A Novel Solution to Challenges Posed by Traditional Chairside CAD/CAM Systems
Information
CAD/CAM chairside technology has been around since the 1980s. Some of the key challenges in implementing traditional chairside CAD/CAM workflows include large capital investment, steep learning curve and time investment especially in data processing and digital design of restorations, limited material choices in closed systems, and cost.
By utilizing chairside solutions that we have today, we can overcome some of these challenges by utilizing open systems that allow modular or full deployment, which moderates the startup cost, and by outsourcing the designing of restorations, which reduces the chairside time spent by the practitioner.
This lecture aims to explore how we may utilize novel tools that we have today to improve clinical efficiency and speed up delivery time while maintaining good clinical outcomes, and describe which workflows would benefit the most from these advancements.
